Maryport and locality

Maryport is a fascinating small town with strong links to shipping (especially the Titanic), Fletcher Christian, Wilkie Collins, and many other interesting facets of UK history and life.  The harbour is not large, but beautiful, and you can usually see a lovely mix of pleasure craft and fishing boats.  The town itself has many interesting buildings, and there is a strong tradition of making one's home look different to your neighbours'.

Here are some links to other Maryport sites.
- a general site with links to other parts of Maryport.

- About out annual Blues Festival - not to be missed!  Three days of great music, street fun, and opportunities for making new friends.

- Cumbria's best-kept secret.  A small but amazing museum with big plans.  How I could have studied Roman History without hearing of it, I fail to understand!  Beat the crush and visit soon (and then come back, again and again and...)

- a really great place for all the family, or to stroll around at your leisure alone.  A good system of allowing reentry on the same day, so you can take it all in a bit at a time.  5 stars for thoughfulness!

- Gokarting in a safe, enclosed environment.
